I can’t really read this but:
Capire il problema
Elaborare una strategia
Mettere in pratica la strategia
Controllare
look familiar enough that I am guessing the last one says “check,” and I automatically objected (looking back involves so much else, as the professor’s text actually said. It’s the word in the heading I objected to)
Actually, yes, it is Polya in italian (my translation). Do you think that “Controllare” (looking back) is inappropriate?
The literal translation of “looking back” is “guardare indietro”, but it doesn’t sound good.
The back-translation of the first three titles is:
Understand the problem
Elaborate a strategy
Use the strategy (do you say “put into practice?”)
I think the work is wonderful. I teach it to kids. I have taught it to teachers.
In English, sometimes people say “check your answer” instead of “look back,” and the implication is so much more limited.
We could say “review and extend.”
Would that translate better?
“Review and extend” is good. I could translate with “Controlla, rivedi, estendi”. (Check, review, extend)
